About

NOT FOR EVERYONE. FOR PEOPLE WHO KNOW WHAT AN ULTRA MEANS.

Miles Under Protest makes clothing and goods for the ultra and trail running scene — designed from inside it, not from a keyword list.

We are Nicole and Jan — ultra runners who have finished and crewed races from the 100km of Biel and the Taubertal100 to Mozart 100, UTFS and the Grand Trail d'Alsace, plus regular visits to our beloved ZUT, the Zugspitz Ultratrail. And yes, Western States is on the bucket list. (.. and UTMB, CCC or TDS but only  if they actually make it smaller...).

Every design is drawn between training blocks, and every single one has to pass the same test before it goes live: would we actually wear this at a start line? If the answer smells even slightly like a motivational poster, it doesn't ship.

So you won't find sunrise quotes here, and nobody will tell you to run because you can. What you'll find instead: dry humor that only makes sense past kilometer 60, elevation profiles, cut-off times, technical typography, and the occasional warning about chairs. If you know, you know. If you don't yet — you will, somewhere around aid station four.

There are exceptions, though. Every now and then Nicole takes the lead, the relentless optimism surfaces, and Little Ms Sunshine gets a design through. We let it happen. Even a pain cave needs a window.

MADE SLOWLY, ON PURPOSE.

Every piece is printed on demand in the EU — nothing exists until you order it. No warehouse full of unsold shirts, no overproduction. The garments are fair-trade textiles made from organic cotton and recycled fibres, because a sport that happens entirely outside shouldn't produce landfill. It takes a few days longer than fast fashion. You've waited longer at a cut-off.

The low is temporary. Keep moving.
